和CAAS的Digital Locker电子储物柜功能相同，学生能够把自己高中期间的各项作业成果储存在一起，使用自己的Google Drive便捷地上传文件、简历、学校作业和其他学校要求的材料到Common App上。美国很多高中学校都采用Google文档和Google云盘，学生和老师能够在有网络的情况下创建和访问共享文档。这次升级，大大方便了美国高中老师和学生之间的协作。但这个功能对于在国内的同学可能没有太大的帮助。
过去，学生在Common App中只能邀请自己在校申请顾问、老师（School-based Counselors and teachers）来辅导申请，但是现在，学生可以邀请校外资源来帮助自己的申请，比如校外的申请顾问、独立咨询顾问及社区组织CBO（Community-Based Organizations）。这些人和校内升学顾问一样，能够在Common App中直接管理、查看学生申请进度。
在美国，很多西班牙裔群体。Common App增加的西班牙翻译，方便了母语是西班牙语的学生、家庭或顾问等更好理解大学申请过程。
2017-18学年，将有740+所大学使用Common App进行招生录取。目前 Common App会员学校来自美国49个州，17个国家，包括130多所公立大学。
以下是新增成员校名单：
2017-2018 Common App文书从原来的5个题目增加到了7个题目。这其中：2个原装题目，3个微改，2个新题目。新文书题目比原来撤去了一些限定词或思维暗示，开放自命题让申请者有更多的发挥。
Common App此次调整提供给申请者更加自由和多元的选择和构思，能让他们更加全面的展示自己。申请者也需要更加仔细深入地理解题目的含义与目的，选取合适的事例与角度，更好的应对这一次改变。
文书题目5点变化：
1.Some students have a background, identity, interest, or talent that is so meaningful they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your story. [Same]
有些学生的背景、特性、兴趣或才能非常重要，以至于他们认为，如果没有它，整个申请就不完整。如果你正是这种情况，请和我们分享你的故事。
2. The lessons we take from obstacles we encounter can be fundamental to later success. Recount a time when you faced a challenge, setback, or failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience? [Revised]
我们从遇到的困难/阻碍中吸取的教训会为我们将来的成功打下基础。回忆一次面临挑战、遇到挫折、遭遇失败的经历，并说明它是如何影响你的，你又从中学到了什么？
3. Reflect on a time when you questioned or challenged a belief or idea. What prompted your thinking？What was the outcome？ [Revised]
请回忆你挑战某种观点或信念的经历。是什么促使你这么做？结果是怎样的？
4.Describe a problem you've solved or a problem you'd like to solve. It can be an intellectual challenge, a research query, an ethical dilemma - anything that isof personal importance, no matter the scale. Explain its significance to you and what steps you took or could be taken to identify a solution. [Same]
