For the first time in the history of this planet, we are able todirectly design organisms. We can manipulate the plasmas of life withunprecedented power, and it confers on us a responsibility. Is everything okay?Is it okay to manipulate and create whatever creatures we want? Do we have freereign to design animals? Do we get to go someday to Pets ‘R’Us and say. “ look, I want a dog, I’dlike it to have the head of a Dachshound， the body of a retriever, maybe somepink fur, and let’s make it glow in the dark!” Does industry get to create creatures who, in their milk, in theirblood, and in their saliva and other bodily fluids, creat the drugs andindustrial molecules we want and then warehouse them as organic manufacturingmachines? Do we get to create organic robots where we remove the autonomy fromthese animals and turn them just into our playthings? And then the final stepof this, once we perfect these technologies in animals and we start using themin human beings, what are the ethical guidelines that we will use then? It’s alredy happening. It’snot science fiction. We are not only already using these things in animals,some of them we’re already beginning to use on our ownbodies. We are now taking control of our own evolution. We are directlydesigning the future of the species of this planet. It confers upon us an enormousresposibility that is not just the responsibility of the scientists and theethicists who are thinking about it and writing about it now. It is theresponsibility of everybody because it will determine what kind of planet andwhat kind of bodies we will have in the future.

原因：生物工程在给我们的生活带来便利的同时，我们是不是也该反思这样随意改变物种，操控其他生命体好么？从道德层面，我们这样做是不道德的，我们没有这样的权利去操控物种，另一方面，古语有云，物极必反，虽然我们现在还不知道这些奇怪的物种被我们大量的制造出来以后，会是怎么样一个后果，但是居安思危是我们要时刻谨记的。我对这个视频有以上的理解，这样一种思想，我想是应该传下去的，这是一个发散性的议题，有人赞成有人反对，没有统一，百家争鸣，才能推动时代的发展，我想我们应该放到网站上供学生们观看，开阔他们的视野，原来生物工程，还有这样一层思考，给人醍醐灌顶的启迪还是不错的。
